Reuters: IPOX® Associate Lukas Muehlbauer Discusses Biotech IPO Activity
Reuters reported on the launch of US IPO roadshows by Aspen Neuroscience and Bambusa Therapeutics, extending a wave of biotech listings during an otherwise subdued fall IPO window. More than half a dozen biotech companies have gone public in New York since September, making the sector a bright spot as rising borrowing costs and volatile market conditions constrain activity elsewhere.
Both companies are each offering 9.38 million shares at an indicated price range of $15 to $17 per share. Aspen Neuroscience is developing therapies for neurodegenerative diseases, with its lead candidate in an early-to-mid-stage trial for Parkinson’s disease. Bambusa Therapeutics focuses on immunological and inflammatory disorders, with its lead candidate in early-stage development for dermatitis and other inflammatory skin diseases.
IPOX® Associate Lukas Muehlbauer explained why the sector continues to attract capital:
“Biotech offers investors opportunities where clinical catalysts can drive returns even when the broader economic outlook is uncertain, giving specialist investors reasons to back individual companies despite higher rates.”
Muehlbauer added that strong debuts from some recent listings could encourage further issuers, particularly those raising funds for upcoming trials. He also emphasized that investor appetite remains selective, with higher financing costs posing challenges for companies that may still be years away from generating revenue.
