About the index
The IPOX® Japan Index (IPJP) measures the performance of eligible Japanese companies in the IPOX® new listings universe. It follows businesses becoming publicly traded through IPOs and spin-offs, using the IPOX® Global Composite Index as its selection framework.
Japan's changing listed-company universe
An IPO can introduce an expanding business to public investors, while a spin-off can give an established operation its own listing and shareholder base. The index brings these forms of corporate activity into a portfolio focused on Japanese companies.
Its industry composition reflects the eligible companies available for selection. That mix develops as new businesses list, market values change and corporate actions affect existing constituents.
Construction and maintenance
Selection uses market capitalization rankings together with liquidity and exposure criteria. Market capitalization weighting connects constituent weights with company size, subject to the index's methodology provisions.
The index is reconstituted and rebalanced quarterly. These reviews refresh the portfolio as Japan's eligible new listings universe changes.
Following public-market development
IPJP provides a reference for analyzing Japanese companies through the years after listing and for comparing this segment with broader equity exposures. The index is available for licensing and benchmarking applications.
Use the dated fact sheet for index statistics and performance. Full eligibility and maintenance rules are available in Rulebook & Regulations. For a wider non-U.S. perspective, see the IPOX® International Index.
