Reuters: IPOX® Associate Lukas Muehlbauer Comments on Altera’s AI Exposure Ahead of IPO

Altera has confidentially filed for a U.S. IPO as the semiconductor company looks to capitalize on continued investor demand for businesses tied to AI infrastructure. Reuters previously reported that the Silver Lake- and Intel-backed chipmaker could seek to raise more than $2 billion, potentially making it one of the largest semiconductor listings in recent years.

Reuters cited IPOX® Associate Lukas Muehlbauer on a key issue investors are expected to evaluate once Altera’s public filing becomes available: the extent of the company’s exposure to large-scale cloud and AI infrastructure customers. Altera produces programmable chips used across data centers, telecommunications, industrial applications, aerospace and defense, and AI-related workloads.

“Whether hyperscalers remain a material part of Altera’s customer base today will be an important point for investors once the public filing comes out,” Lukas Muehlbauer, Research Associate at IPOX®, said.
