Reuters: IPOX® Research Associate Lukas Muehlbauer Comments on ADARx IPO and Biotech Market Momentum

Reuters reports that ADARx Pharmaceuticals is targeting a valuation of up to $1.74 billion in its U.S. IPO, as the RNA-based drug developer seeks to raise as much as $371.9 million through an offering of 21.9 million shares priced between $15 and $17. AbbVie has also agreed to invest up to $100 million in a concurrent private placement, following an earlier research collaboration with ADARx.

IPOX® Associate Lukas Muehlbauer told Reuters that AbbVie’s investment provides external validation of ADARx’s technology. He also noted that the reopening of the biotech IPO market remains selective, with investors favoring companies that have later-stage assets, upcoming clinical catalysts, and exposure to areas such as obesity and oncology.

Muehlbauer further highlighted the role of pharmaceutical companies’ demand for external innovation in supporting biotech market sentiment, as potential acquisitions can provide another route to investor returns despite elevated interest rates. “Sentiment has also been helped by big pharma's appetite for external innovation,” he said.
